Magic Sort level guide
Magic Sort Level 230 Walkthrough
Magic Sort Level 230 is a fourteen-bottle, three-tier sort whose only gimmick is a side-mounted wooden vault in the middle row. Bank orange, yellow and red in clean lanes first, pour the orange onto the vault to release the hidden color, then route the rest of the mixes through the three empties until every bottle ends on a single color.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 230 — Full Solution
- Pour the top yellow off the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer into the middle-row empty flask to start a yellow lane.
- Dock that yellow onto the middle-row yellow-dark mixer so the middle row carries a clean yellow column.
- Pour the top red off the top-row red-dark mixer onto the bottom-row red-dark stack to merge reds and free a top-row slot.
- Peel the orange top off the bottom-row orange-dark mixer into a clean slot to bank an orange lane ready for the vault.
- Pour the banked orange onto the middle-row wooden vault — the padlock pops, the vault releases its hidden color, and that hidden color drops into the vault slot as a single-color buffer.
- Route the top-row cyan-dark and purple-dark mixers through the freed top slot, peeling cyan onto the merged cyan stack and purple onto its own lane.
- Drain the bottom-row red-dark and brown-dark mixers top-first into the remaining empty slots, keeping each new stack single-color.
- Top off pink, cyan, yellow, orange, red, purple, green, blue, gray and brown so every one of the fourteen positions ends on a single color.
Colors in this level:
Cyan, Yellow, Purple, Red, Pink, Orange, Brown, Green, Blue, Gray
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pouring a non-orange color into the middle-row wooden vault, which seals the orange padlock shut and burns the only unlock trigger for the hidden color.
- Splitting the bottom-row red-dark stack before you have a real second red to merge it onto, which strands red on top of a mismatched buffer.
- Pouring the bottom of the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer before peeling its cyan top, which buries cyan under yellow and leaves no clean home for the cyan lane.
Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 230 (spoiler-free)
- Bank orange in a clean slot before you touch the vault, so the padlock trigger is ready when you need it.
- Pour a non-orange color into the vault and the lock seals — orange is the only valid input.
- Peel the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer top-first so cyan and yellow split cleanly into their own lanes.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- Three tiers, fourteen bottle positions, with one horizontal wooden vault in the middle row. The top row is five mixers — a three-color cyan-yellow-dark stack on the far left, then purple-dark, cyan-dark, yellow-dark and red-dark. The middle row is five positions: pink-dark, yellow-dark, an empty flask, the side-mounted wooden vault locked with one unit of orange, and a red-dark. The bottom row is four two-color mixers — red-dark, red-dark, orange-dark and brown-dark. No corks, magic bottles, wraps or tunnels — only the vault is special.
- Goal
- The vault is the chokepoint. Free it by pouring the orange padlock color in, then route the released hidden color and the remaining mixes through the three empty slots until every position ends single-color.
- Opening
- Pour the top yellow off the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer into the middle-row empty flask to start a yellow lane, then dock that yellow onto the middle-row yellow-dark mixer. Pour the top red off the top-row red-dark mixer onto the bottom-row red-dark stack to merge reds, and peel the orange top off the bottom-row orange-dark mixer into a clean slot to bank an orange lane.
- Danger Zone
- The vault padlock color is orange, so pouring a non-orange color into the vault seals the lock and burns the unlock trigger. The bottom-row red-dark stack is the only place to merge reds, and the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer is the only source of cyan — peel it top-first or cyan gets stranded under yellow and the cyan lane is lost.
- Mechanics
- A three-tier, fourteen-bottle board whose only gimmick is one side-mounted wooden vault in the middle row. The vault's orange padlock gates the release of the hidden color, and the three empty slots (one starting empty plus two earned by clean merges) have to absorb the rest of the sort.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you open the wooden vault in Magic Sort Level 230?
Bank orange in a clean slot first, then pour that orange onto the middle-row vault. The orange padlock pops, the vault releases its hidden color, and that hidden color drops into the vault slot as a single-color buffer. Pouring any non-orange color into the vault seals the lock shut and burns the unlock trigger.
Why must the top-row cyan-yellow-dark mixer be peeled top-first in Level 230?
It is the only source of cyan on the whole board. Peel the yellow top into a clean buffer first, then peel the cyan top into a different buffer. Reverse the order and yellow lands on top of cyan, leaving no clean place to dock cyan and the cyan lane is lost.
