Magic Sort Level 260 Walkthrough

hard Target: 42 moves 10 colors

Magic Sort Level 260 is a pure two-tier routing finale — fourteen bottles, one near-empty buffer, no corks, boxes, magic bottles, wraps or frozen tiles. Collapse the three yellow tops across the top row into the bottom col 2 buffer to bank a full yellow single first, then peel the purple, red, green, light blue, cream, cyan, pink, orange and dark colors into their own homes in the order each buried bottom becomes reachable, so all fourteen bottles end on a single color.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 260 — Full Solution

  1. Pour the yellow top off the top col 1 mixer (yellow over purple) into the bottom col 2 near-empty to start the yellow lane, and pour the yellow top off the top col 5 mixer (yellow over cyan) onto that yellow lane to grow it.
  2. Pour the yellow top off the top col 7 mixer (yellow over blue) onto the yellow lane so the bottom col 2 buffer is a full yellow single, then peel the now-exposed purple top of the top col 1 mixer onto a fresh top-row slot to start the purple lane.
  3. Dock the exposed cyan from the top col 5 mixer onto the purple lane or onto its own cyan stack, then pour the red top off the top col 2 mixer (green over red) onto the full red single at top col 4 to grow a full red stack.
  4. Peel the exposed green from the top col 2 mixer onto a fresh top-row slot to start the green lane, then pour the pink top off the top col 6 mixer (pink over cream) onto a clean top-row slot to start the pink lane.
  5. Pour the exposed cream from the top col 6 mixer onto the cream top of the bottom col 4 mixer (cream over dark) to grow the cream stack, then pour the light blue top off the top col 3 mixer (light blue over cream) onto the cream stack you just grew.
  6. Peel the dark top off the bottom col 1 mixer (red over dark) onto the full dark single at bottom col 7 to grow the dark stack, then pour the red now exposed at the top of the bottom col 1 mixer onto the red stack at top col 4 to finish a red single.
  7. Dock the dark top of the bottom col 4 mixer (cream over dark) onto the dark stack at bottom col 7 to grow it, then pour the cyan top off the bottom col 5 mixer onto the cyan lane from top col 5 to grow the cyan single.
  8. Pour the orange top off the bottom col 6 mixer (orange full) onto a fresh top-row slot to free bottom col 6 as the final buffer, then top off yellow, purple, red, green, light blue, cream, cyan, pink, orange and dark so all fourteen bottles end on a single color with no mixed segments left.

Colors in this level:

Yellow, Purple, Red, Green, Light blue, Cream, Cyan, Pink, Orange, Dark

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pouring any non-yellow color into the bottom col 2 buffer before the three yellow tops have all collapsed into it, which strands the second or third yellow top with no home and deadlocks the board.
  • Peeling the green top off the top col 2 green-over-red mixer first and parking it in a fresh buffer, which leaves the red underneath stranded with no matching lane and buries the green under whatever is poured next.
  • Pouring the red top off the bottom col 1 red-over-dark mixer before the top col 4 red single is already a full lane, which lands red on a half-red stack and mixes red with dark.

Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 260 (spoiler-free)

  • Collapse the three yellow tops at the top row into the bottom col 2 buffer first — that single lane is the only scratch flask you ever have, and it has to be a full yellow single before any other color is poured into bottom col 2.
  • Peel red off the top col 2 green-over-red mixer onto the full red single at top col 4 before you touch the bottom col 1 red-over-dark bottle, or the red you extract lands on a half-red stack and mixes with dark.
  • The cream color only lives in the top col 3 light-blue-over-cream mixer and the bottom col 4 cream-over-dark mixer — peel the pink-cream top col 6 mixer first to start the cream stack, so the cream underneath light blue has a matching home.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
A compact two-tier board with seven columns and fourteen bottle slots total, no locks, wraps, boxes, corks or magic. The top row is seven tall mixers reading left to right — yellow over purple, green over red, light blue over cream, a full red single, yellow over cyan, pink over cream, and yellow over blue. The bottom row carries red over dark in col 1, one near-empty buffer in col 2, purple over cream in col 3, cream over dark in col 4, and three full singles — cyan in col 5, orange in col 6, dark in col 7. Fourteen slots, thirteen working bottles, and the single near-empty in bottom col 2 is the only workshop.
Goal
The chokepoint is the single near-empty buffer in bottom col 2 — there is no second scratch flask to fall back on, so every pour has to either open a new bottle or land on a real matching top. The first unlock is peeling yellow off the top col 1 mixer, which parks the only spare color you have three copies of into the bottom col 2 buffer, and from there you can collapse the top row's other two yellow bottles onto the same lane before peeling the purple underneath col 1 top, the red underneath col 2 top, the green above red, the light blue and cream stack, the cream over dark, the pink over cream, and finally the cyan, orange and dark singles in the bottom row.
Opening
Pour the yellow top off the top col 1 mixer (yellow over purple) into the bottom col 2 near-empty to start the yellow lane. Pour the yellow top off the top col 5 mixer (yellow over cyan) onto the yellow lane in bottom col 2 to grow it. Pour the yellow top off the top col 7 mixer (yellow over blue) onto the yellow lane to finish the yellow single in bottom col 2. Peel the red top off the top col 2 mixer (green over red) onto the full red single at top col 4 to grow the red lane into a full stack.
Danger Zone
Pouring onto a bottle whose top does not match strands a color you cannot recover — with only one scratch flask, every mis-pour buries a color on top of a non-matching stack. The top col 2 green-over-red mixer is the trap — if you peel the green off first and route it into a fresh buffer, the red underneath has nowhere to go except onto the full red single at top col 4, and the green you parked is now stranded under whatever you pour next. The bottom col 1 red-over- dark bottle must be peeled after the top col 4 red single is already a full lane, otherwise the red you extract lands on a half-red bottle and mixes with dark. The top col 6 pink-over- cream mixer and the bottom col 4 cream-over-dark mixer both hide cream in the middle, and cream only lives in those two bottles, so peel them in sequence or the second cream piece is stranded with no home. Pouring any non-yellow color into the bottom col 2 buffer before the three yellow tops have all collapsed into it strands the second or third yellow top with no home, and the board deadlocks.
Mechanics
A pure two-tier sort finale with one near-empty and ten distinct colors — no corks, no boxes, no magic bottles, no wraps, no frozen tiles. The chokepoint is space — a single buffer has to cycle through thirteen bottles, so the run only works if the three yellow tops at the top row collapse onto a single yellow lane first, freeing the yellow buffer to act as the only scratch flask for the rest of the puzzle. Color-lane first, then peel the buried colors, then top off the singles — the whole level is pour order, not gimmick order.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you start Magic Sort Level 260 with only one near-empty buffer?

Pour the yellow top off the top col 1 mixer (yellow over purple) into the bottom col 2 near-empty to start the yellow lane, then collapse the other two yellow tops from the top col 5 and top col 7 mixers onto that same yellow lane so the bottom col 2 buffer becomes a full yellow single. After that, the bottom col 2 slot is the only scratch flask the rest of the puzzle runs on.

  • Why must the red single at top col 4 be a full stack before the bottom col 1 red-over-dark mixer is touched?

The red from the bottom col 1 red-over-dark mixer has to land on a matching red top, and the only red on the board is the top col 2 red-under-green mixer and the top col 4 full red single. Pouring the bottom col 1 red onto the top col 2 red-under-green mixer buries red under dark, while pouring it onto the top col 4 red single finishes a clean red stack. The top col 4 red single must already be a full lane (after the red from the top col 2 mixer is poured onto it) before the bottom col 1 red is peeled, or the red lands on a half-red stack and mixes with dark.
