Magic Sort Level 266 Walkthrough

hard Target: 36 moves 8 colors

Magic Sort Level 266 is a two-tier, ten-bottle cork-and-magic release finale that hides its real chokepoint behind the brown wooden cork on top col 3. The cork seals a four-stack orange-pink-red-red bottle with a hidden blue underneath, and the only blue that can pop the cork is the single blue in the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer. Bank that blue inside the magic bottle, bank pink from the two bottom pink-purple-purple-purple mirrors into the bottom col 1 buffer, walk the cork with the banked blue, then drain the seven remaining mixers top-first into single-color stacks so all ten bottles end on a single color.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 266 — Full Solution

  1. Tap the bottom col 5 empty as the first scratch flask, then peel the orange top off the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer into the bottom col 5 buffer to start a single-color orange lane and expose the blue segment underneath.
  2. Pour the now-exposed blue segment from the top col 1 mixer into the white magic bottle (top col 5) to bank the only blue that can pop the cork, leaving the magic bottle holding a single blue segment.
  3. Peel the yellow top off the top col 2 (yellow-orange-blue-red) mixer into the top col 4 (green-green-red-red) buffer so the yellow sits on top of the red stack and the top col 2 slot is freed for later use.
  4. Pour the pink top off the bottom col 2 (pink-purple-purple-purple) mixer into the bottom col 1 empty to bank pink, then dock the pink top off the bottom col 3 mirror mixer onto the same bottom col 1 buffer to grow the pink lane.
  5. Pour the purple bottoms from the bottom col 2 and col 3 mixers into the bottom col 1 buffer (after pink is moved out) to start a purple lane, leaving the bottom col 2 and col 3 slots open as new working empties.
  6. Tap the top col 3 cork, pour the banked blue from the magic bottle onto it, and the cork pops — the hidden blue drops onto the top col 3 stack as a new blue on top of the orange-pink-red- red bottle, and the top col 3 stack is now blue-orange-pink-red-red.
  7. Drain the seven remaining mixers (top col 1 reds, top col 2 orange blue red, top col 4 green green red, bottom col 4 cyan, plus the new empties) top-first into their matching lanes: route the red bottoms into two separate red bottles (one in the top row, one in the bottom row), the orange into the orange lane, the green into a green bottle, the cyan into a cyan bottle, and the yellow onto a yellow bottle.
  8. Top off red, orange, blue, green, purple, yellow, pink and cyan so all ten bottles end on a single color, then pour any leftover banked color from the magic bottle onto its matching lane so the magic bottle is empty at the end.

Colors in this level:

Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Yellow, Cyan

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pouring a non-blue color onto the cork in top col 3 (orange, pink, red, green, yellow), which seals the cork shut and strands the hidden blue underneath for the rest of the level with no way to reopen it.
  • Mixing a second color into the magic bottle on top of the banked blue (orange, red, yellow), which buries the blue trigger and makes the cork impossible to pop because the magic bottle can no longer release a clean blue.
  • Pouring the pink tops off the two bottom col 2 and col 3 mirrors before the bottom col 1 empty is ready, which strands pink on top of purple with no second home and locks the pink lane.

Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 266 (spoiler-free)

  • Bank the single blue from the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer into the magic bottle immediately after peeling the orange top off that mixer — the magic bottle must stay single- color or the blue trigger is buried.
  • Pour the pink tops off the two bottom pink-purple-purple-purple mirrors (bottom col 2 and col 3) into the bottom col 1 empty before the purple is moved, otherwise pink strands on top of purple with no second home.
  • Pop the brown cork on top col 3 with the banked blue from the magic bottle as soon as pink is consolidated — the cork is a one-shot trigger and the moment the magic bottle mixes with a second color the hidden blue underneath the cork is stranded for the rest of the level.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
A two-tier board that resolves to five columns wide and ten bottle positions, with no wraps, no boxes, no frozen tiles and no question-mark caps — but with one wooden CORK on top col 3 and one tall narrow WHITE MAGIC BOTTLE on top col 5. The top row carries five slots: top col 1 a four-stack orange-blue-red-red mixer, top col 2 a four-stack yellow-orange-blue- red mixer, top col 3 a four-stack orange-pink-red-red mixer sealed by a brown wooden cork (the cork hides a blue segment underneath), top col 4 a four-stack green-green-red-red mixer, and top col 5 the tall white magic bottle that starts empty. The bottom row carries five slots: bottom col 1 a true starting empty, bottom col 2 a four-stack pink-purple-purple- purple mixer (pink on top of three purples), bottom col 3 a mirror pink-purple-purple-purple mixer, bottom col 4 a small three-stack cyan-cyan-cyan bottle, and bottom col 5 a second true starting empty. Eight distinct colors appear (red, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, yellow, cyan) and red is the only color that shows up in more than one final bottle.
Goal
Bank the single blue from the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer inside the magic bottle, bank pink from the two bottom col 2 and col 3 pink-purple-purple-purple mirrors into the bottom col 1 buffer, then pour the banked blue onto the brown cork on top col 3 to release the hidden blue underneath. After the cork pops, drain the seven remaining mixers top-first into their matching lanes (red x2, orange, green, yellow, purple, cyan) so all ten bottles end on a single color with the magic bottle empty at the end.
Opening
Tap the bottom col 5 empty as the first scratch flask, then peel the orange top off the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer into the bottom col 5 buffer to start a single-color orange lane. Pour the now-exposed blue segment from the top col 1 mixer into the white magic bottle (top col 5) to bank blue safely. Peel the yellow top off the top col 2 (yellow-orange- blue-red) mixer into the top col 4 (green-green-red-red) buffer to free the top col 2 slot. Pour the pink top off the bottom col 2 mixer into the bottom col 1 empty, then dock the pink top off the bottom col 3 mixer onto the same bottom col 1 buffer to grow the pink lane.
Danger Zone
Pouring any non-blue color onto the cork in top col 3 (orange, pink, red, green, yellow, etc.) seals the cork shut and the hidden blue underneath never joins the puzzle — blue is the only valid trigger, and once the cork seals there is no way to undo it inside this level. The magic bottle must stay single-color: the moment a second color (orange, red, yellow) lands inside it on top of the banked blue, the blue trigger is buried and the cork cannot be popped. The two pink-on-purple bottom mixers (bottom col 2 and col 3) are the only source of pink on the board, so the player must pour the pink out into a clean buffer before the purple is moved, otherwise pink strands on top of purple with no second home. The single blue in the top col 1 mixer is the only visible blue, so the very next pour after peeling the orange top off the top col 1 mixer must be the blue into the magic bottle — pouring the blue into any other buffer wastes the only chance to pop the cork.
Mechanics
A two-tier cork-and-magic release finale on a ten-bottle board. One cork hides a blue segment on the top row, one magic bottle holds the single blue trigger, two starting empties anchor the bottom corners, and seven mixers must consolidate into nine single-color bottles. The chokepoint is colour-lane first, cork second — bank blue in the magic bottle, bank pink in the bottom col 1 buffer, walk the cork with the banked blue, then drain the seven remaining mixers top-first into their matching lanes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you pop the brown cork in Magic Sort Level 266?

The only blue on the board is the single blue in the top col 1 (orange-blue-red-red) mixer. Peel the orange top off that mixer into the bottom col 5 buffer first, then pour the now- exposed blue segment into the white magic bottle (top col 5) to bank blue safely. Tap the top col 3 cork, pour the banked blue from the magic bottle onto it, and the cork pops — the hidden blue underneath drops onto the top col 3 stack as a new blue on top of the orange-pink-red-red bottle. Pouring any other color onto the cork seals it shut and the hidden blue never joins the puzzle.

  • Why must the magic bottle stay single-color in Level 266?

The magic bottle is the only place to bank the single blue that pops the cork, and it must stay single-color so the blue can be released cleanly onto the cork. The moment a second color (orange, red, yellow) lands inside it on top of the banked blue, the blue trigger is buried and the cork cannot be popped — and the hidden blue underneath the cork then strands itself for the rest of the level because the only way to free it was the magic bottle's blue. Bank the blue, pop the cork, then route the magic bottle's leftover onto its matching lane so the magic bottle ends empty.
