How to Solve Block Out Level 88 — Full Solution
- Trim the upper-right stack first so the right wall opens and its outer count starts dropping.
- Use that new room to release the right purple lock pod, then clear the matching lock pod on the left wall.
- Slide the long orange beam across the throat only after the blue center spine has one free side.
- Drop the blue spine and the red zigzag through the neck into the lower basin.
- Clear the lower-left orange runway and the opposite orange tray once the center pieces are out of the way.
- Finish with the last purple elbow plus the top-left green-and-yellow pieces through the opened side lanes.

Green, Red, Orange, Blue, Yellow, Purple
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Starting on the bottom orange trays before the upper-right stack and both side locks have opened the neck.
- Moving the orange beam while the blue center spine is still pinned on both sides.
Quick Tips for Block Out Level 88 (spoiler-free)
- Do not start from the bottom basin. This board opens from the neck downward.
- If one lock pod is still on the wall, the blue spine is not ready to drop.
- Think in chain clears. The best move is the one that sets up the next two moves, not just the quickest current match.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- The board has an hourglass silhouette. The upper-left pocket holds a green block beside a yellow column, while the upper-right pocket holds another green block and a pale vertical stack on the outer wall. A long orange beam crosses the throat, a red zigzag and tall blue spine hang below it, and purple lock pods marked `2` sit on both side walls above the lower basin.
- Goal
- The upper-right stack and the two purple lock pods control the solve. Once the right wall opens and both locks disappear, the orange beam can shift, the blue spine can fall through the neck, and the lower orange trays finally get clear exits.
- Opening
- Peel the upper-right stack first so the right wall starts opening. Use that space to clear the right lock pod, then the matching left lock pod. After the locks are gone, begin moving the orange beam and lowering the blue spine.
- Danger Zone
- Working on the bottom orange trays before the side locks release leaves the blue spine welded into the neck. That jams the red zigzag in the middle and turns the lower basin into dead space.
- Mechanics
- Level 88 mixes an hourglass choke point with mirrored side locks. The locks do not just remove pieces; they decide when the center spine is allowed to move.
Frequently Asked Questions
What actually opens the middle of Block Out Level 88?
The combination of the upper-right stack and the two purple lock pods. Until those pieces are cleared, the orange beam and blue spine cannot move through the throat.
Why does Level 88 punish me for working on the bottom first?
Because the lower basin is waiting for the center spine to fall into it. If the side locks are still up, the bottom trays have nowhere useful to go.
