Magic Sort level guide
Magic Sort Level 282 Walkthrough
Magic Sort Level 282 is a two-tier, twelve-bottle vault finale where the entire bottom row is sealed inside a padlocked wooden chest. The top row sorts into green, red, black, orange and a pink/cyan pair; bank those, pour green onto the chest's padlock to free the bottom row, then crack the wooden cork in col-3 plus the five "?" separator caps on the other bottom bottles so every released color lands on a lane you have already built.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 282 — Full Solution
- Peel the green cap off the col-1 three-color bottle (green/red/pink) into the col-2 scratch slot, then bank that green onto a top-row col-3 buffer to start the green lane.
- Pour the red top of the col-2 mixer (red/orange) onto the green col-3 buffer, then run the now-exposed orange down onto a clean col-4 buffer to start the orange lane.
- Pour the cyan top of the col-5 mixer (cyan/black) into the col-4 orange buffer, then run that cyan across to start the cyan lane in a clean col-5 buffer.
- Drain the col-1 bottle's red and pink into the top-row buffers, then tap the wooden chest's padlock and pour green onto the lock — the chest pops and the six bottom-row bottles spill out.
- Tap the col-3 bottom bottle (the wooden cork), pour the banked green onto the cork, and the cork pops to reveal a "?" cap sitting on top of a green body — leave that green in place and use the freed slot as your new scratch.
- Pop the col-2 bottom "?" cap by pouring pink into it from the top row, then run the released yellow down onto a clean col-5 buffer to start the yellow lane; pop the col-1 bottom "?" cap the same way to release brown into a col-4 buffer.
- Peel the col-4 bottom bottle (cyan/black with "?" cap) — pour black into the top-row col-4 buffer first, then run the released cyan down to merge with the top-row cyan lane and pop the "?" cap.
- Finish the col-5 and col-6 bottom "?" caps (red and pink), then top off green, red, black, orange, pink, cyan, yellow, brown, red and pink in their final homes so all twelve bottles end on a single color with no caps or corks left.
Colors in this level:
Green, Red, Pink, Orange, Black, Cyan, Yellow, Brown, Blue, Purple
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pouring a non-matching color (orange or cyan) onto the col-3 bottom cork, which seats the cork and burns the only way to access the hidden green underneath.
- Popping a "?" cap before the matching top color is banked in the top row, which strands the second color (yellow, brown, red or pink) on top of nothing and leaves a cap remnant that no longer fits any lane.
- Pouring the cyan half of the col-4 bottom bottle (cyan/black with "?" cap) before black is peeled off into the top row, which strands cyan on top of an already-busy buffer and locks the cap.
Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 282 (spoiler-free)
- Bank green, red, black, orange and pink in the top row before you tap the chest's padlock, because every "?" cap release needs an already-built lane to land on.
- Pour green onto the wooden cork in col-3 last, after the cap releases have freed up scratch space, so the cork's green release lands directly on its final home.
- Peel the col-4 bottom bottle (cyan/black with "?" cap) by pouring black into the top row first, then run the released cyan down to merge with the top-row cyan lane before popping the cap.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- A two-tier, six-column board. The top row of six bottles is fully visible at the start — a green/red/pink three-color stack with "?" cap at col 1, a red/orange two-color with "?" cap at col 2, a single-color red with "?" cap at col 3, a single-color black with "?" cap at col 4, a cyan/black two-color with "?" cap at col 5, and a single-color orange with "?" cap at col 6. Below the top row sits a horizontally-mounted wooden chest with a padlocked front and a small "?" above the lock, hiding the entire bottom row of six more bottles. There is no scratch buffer on the board at the start. The visible mixers in the top row are dominated by a red/pink/orange family and a cyan/black/purple block on the right.
- Goal
- Pop the chest's padlock first by feeding it green, then process the wooden cork in col-3 of the bottom row plus the five "?" separator caps that hide a second color in each remaining bottom bottle. Each "?" cap release must land on a lane already banked in the top row, so the top row has to be sorted into single-color buffers before any cap is cracked. The cork's hidden green and the five caps' hidden yellow, brown, cyan, red and pink form the second wave, and all twelve bottles have to end on a single color.
- Opening
- Peel the green cap off the col-1 three-color bottle (green/red/pink) into the col-2 scratch slot, then bank that green onto a top-row col-3 buffer to start the green lane. Pour the red top of the col-2 mixer (red/orange) onto the green col-3 buffer, then run the now-exposed orange down onto a clean col-4 buffer to start the orange lane. Pour the cyan top of the col-5 mixer (cyan/black) into the col-4 orange buffer, then run that cyan across to start the cyan lane in a clean col-5 buffer. With green, orange and cyan banked on the right, tap the wooden chest's padlock and pour green onto the lock — the padlock pops and the six bottom-row bottles spill out.
- Danger Zone
- Once the chest opens, the col-3 bottom bottle is sealed with a wooden cork over a "?" cap — pouring a non-matching color onto the cork (orange or cyan instead of green) seats the cork and burns the only way to access that slot's hidden green. The five "?" separator caps on the bottom row hide a second color each, and popping a cap before the matching top color is banked (for example yanking the pink cap off col-2 before pink is banked in the top row) strands the hidden yellow on top of nothing and leaves a cap remnant that no longer matches any lane. The col-4 bottom bottle is a cyan/black two-color sandwich with a "?" cap — peel black first into the top-row col-4 buffer so the cyan underneath has somewhere to dock, or the cap pops with cyan stranded on top of an already-busy buffer and you lose the cyan merge.
- Mechanics
- A "padlock vault + cork + five ? separator caps" finale on a twelve-bottle, two-tier board. The chest's padlock is the only gate into the bottom row, and once it opens a wooden cork in col-3 plus five "?" separator caps on the other bottom bottles dictate the rest of the level. Bank green, red, black, pink and orange in the top row first, pour green onto the padlock to free the chest, then walk the cork and the five caps in cap order so each second-color release lands on an already-built lane. The cork and the caps behave the same way: pour the matching top color in, the cork or cap pops, and the second color underneath is exposed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you open the wooden chest in Magic Sort Level 282?
Bank green, red, black, orange and pink in the top row first, then tap the chest's padlock and pour the banked green onto the lock. The padlock pops and the six bottom-row bottles spill out into play, including the wooden cork in col-3 and the five "?" separator caps on the other bottom bottles.
Why must green be poured onto the col-3 bottom cork last in Level 282?
The wooden cork in col-3 hides a green segment that has to land on its own green lane. If you pop the cork before the cap releases have freed up scratch space, the cork's green release lands on a buffer that is already mid-stack and you lose the merge. Pour green onto the cork after the five "?" caps have drained, so the green release lands on its final single-color home.
