Magic Sort level guide
Magic Sort Level 317 Walkthrough
Magic Sort Level 317 is a two-tier, ten-bottle routing finale where the four white magic flasks at T4, T5, B4 and B5 are the only two-segment bottles on the board and the three "2" key tags on B2, B4 and B5 are the only obstacles. Drain the T3 four-color mixer top-first into T4 and T5, peel the B1 mixer into the starting empties, pop the B2 key tag as soon as the dark purple reveals, then crack B4 and B5 in turn so the rest of the level is a clean sort with all ten bottles ending on a single color.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 317 — Full Solution
- Pour the top yellow segment of the T3 four-color mixer into the top of the T5 white flask — the yellow merges with the existing yellow top and T3 now exposes a red segment.
- Pour the red segment of T3 onto the matching full red lane at T2 to bank the red, then pour the now-exposed orange top of T3 into the top of the T4 white flask to start the orange lane, and pour the remaining yellow base of T3 into the starting empty at T1 to bank a yellow buffer.
- Pour the top lavender segment of the B1 four-color mixer into the starting empty at B3 to start a lavender buffer, then peel B1 down — brown onto the brown stub inside the B2 mixer, orange onto the orange lane at T4, and the red top onto the red lane at T2.
- The first time dark purple surfaces from the B1 or B2 mixers, route it straight into the B2 bottle to pop the "2" key tag and turn B2 into a working buffer.
- With B2 unlocked, route the same dark purple into the B4 white flask to pop the second "2" key tag and turn B4 into a yellow lane, then pour a second matching dark purple segment into the B5 white flask to pop the third "2" key tag and turn B5 into a purple lane.
- With all three key tags cracked, drain the B2 mixer top-first into the lavender buffer at B3 and the orange lane at T4, then walk the released colors back onto their matching bases so the white flasks at T4, T5, B4 and B5 each end on a single pair of colors.
- Top off red, lavender, orange, yellow, blue, brown, green, purple, dark gray and dark purple so all ten bottles end on a single color with no mixed segments and no key tags left.
Colors in this level:
Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Purple, Brown, Green, Gray
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pouring a top color into the wrong white magic flask, which strands two colors at once because each white flask can only hold two segments total.
- Draining the B1 and B2 mixers before cracking the B2 "2" key tag, which leaves the only remaining buffer as T1 and strands the rest of the released mix.
- Popping one of the "2" key tags and then losing the dark purple key color before B4 and B5 are unlocked, which seals the second and third key tags for the rest of the run.
Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 317 (spoiler-free)
- Pair the T3 four-color mixer top-first into T5 (yellow onto yellow) and T4 (orange onto the dark purple base) so each white flask receives a pre-matched pair from the very first pour.
- Route the very first dark purple reveal straight into the B2 bottle to pop the "2" key tag, then keep that dark purple safe in one of the white flasks until you can pour it into B4 and B5 as well.
- Never pour a top color into a buffer that already holds a different color, because the four white magic flasks can only hold two segments total and a single wrong pour strands the whole run.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- A two-tier, ten-bottle board with five top-row and five bottom-row positions, no wraps, boxes, corks or frozen tiles. The top row is a starting empty transparent flask at T1, a full red four-segment bottle at T2, a four-color yellow-red-orange-yellow mixer at T3, a white magic flask at T4 holding red on top of dark purple, and a white magic flask at T5 holding yellow on top of blue. The bottom row is a four-color lavender-brown-orange-red mixer at B1, a four-color dark-green-orange-red mixer at B2 with a small "2" key tag, a starting empty transparent flask at B3, a white magic flask at B4 holding red on top of dark gray with its own "2" key tag, and a white magic flask at B5 holding orange on top of dark purple with its own "2" key tag. The four white magic flasks are the dominant visual on the board and the T3 four-color yellow-red-orange-yellow stack is the most eye-catching top-row mixer.
- Goal
- Crack the three "2" key tags on B2, B4 and B5 with the dark purple key color, drain the four mixers at T3, B1 and B2 top-first, and use the four white magic flasks as two-segment routing lanes so every bottle ends on a single color with no mixed segments and no key tags left. The first real unlock is pouring dark purple into B2 to pop the "2" key tag, which converts B2 into a working buffer; the same dark purple then unlocks B4 and B5 in turn.
- Opening
- Pour the top yellow segment of the T3 four-color mixer into the top of the T5 white flask so the yellow merges with the existing yellow top and T3 now exposes a red segment. Pour the red segment of T3 onto the matching full red lane at T2 to bank the red, then pour the now-exposed orange top of T3 into the top of the T4 white flask to start the orange lane, and pour the remaining yellow base of T3 into the starting empty at T1 to bank a yellow buffer. Pour the top lavender segment of the B1 four-color mixer into the starting empty at B3 to start a lavender buffer, then peel B1 down — brown onto the brown stub inside the B2 mixer, orange onto the orange lane at T4, and the red top onto the red lane at T2.
- Danger Zone
- The four white magic flasks at T4, T5, B4 and B5 are the only two-segment bottles on the board, and they are the only bottles that can absorb a top color without a matching base. Pour a top color into the wrong white flask and you strand two colors at once, because each white flask can only hold two segments total. The "2" key tag on B2 is the first real chokepoint: drain the B1 and B2 mixers before cracking B2 and the only buffer left for the released mix is T1, which strands the rest of the run. The T3 four-color mixer is the second trap because it is the only top-row mixer — pour its top yellow into a buffer that already holds a different color and the buffer locks on a two-color stack. The B4 and B5 "2" key tags share the same dark purple key color as B2, so once you pop B2 you have to keep that key color safe in one of the white flasks until you have poured it into B4 and B5 as well.
- Mechanics
- A two-tier, ten-bottle board with no wraps, boxes, corks or frozen tiles. The two special bottle types on the board are the four white magic flasks (two-segment capacity, starting pre-loaded with red/dark purple, yellow/blue, red/dark gray and orange/dark purple respectively) and the three "2" key tags on B2, B4 and B5. The dark purple is the only key color, and the four white flasks are the only bottles that can absorb a top color without a matching base. The chokepoint is white-flask pairing plus key-tag order: pour the T3 four-color mixer top-first into T5 (yellow onto yellow) and T4 (orange onto the dark purple base) so each white flask receives a pre-matched pair, then pop B2, B4 and B5 in turn with the dark purple as soon as it surfaces from any mixer, then sort the remaining colors into the freed white flask lanes so the final state shows ten sorted bottles with no mixed segments and no key tags left.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you start Magic Sort Level 317 with two starting empties and four white magic flasks?
Pour the top yellow segment of the T3 four-color mixer into the top of the T5 white flask so the yellow merges with the existing yellow top, pour the red segment of T3 onto the matching full red lane at T2 to bank the red, pour the orange top of T3 into the T4 white flask to start the orange lane, and pour the remaining yellow base of T3 into the starting empty at T1 to bank a yellow buffer. Each white flask receives a pre-matched pair from the very first pour, which is what makes the rest of the level solvable.
Why are the three "2" key tags on B2, B4 and B5 the chokepoint in Level 317?
All three key tags share the same dark purple key color, so dark purple has to be kept safe in one of the white flasks until it can be poured into B2, B4 and B5 in turn. The first time dark purple surfaces from the B1 or B2 mixers it has to go into B2 on the very next pour, or the "2" key tag stays sealed and the rest of the run has no path to crack the second and third key tags.
