Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle Level 316 Walkthrough

expert 7 colors

Level 316 stacks a 7x5 receiver grid under four feeds and wires every clear to a 3/5/16/7/7 roller-shutter bank. Two free 2x2 clears open the board, then the c1-c2 and c6-c7 survivors have to shuttle upward before the lock-4 red bar can be unlocked.

How to Solve Sand Blocks Level 316 — Full Solution

  1. Let the blue 2x2 (c1-c2, r1-r2) fill under the blue reservoir to 100% and clear at about 0:04; the shutter bank drops from 3/5/16/7/7 to 2/4/15/6/6.
  2. Let the red 2x2 (c6-c7, r1-r2) take the red feed whose counter reads 1; it clears at about 0:05 and the bank reads 1/3/14/5/5.
  3. Drag the orange/brown 2x1 from r3c1-c2 up to r1c1-c2 so c1-c2 r3 leaves the reservoir fall line, then drag the cyan key 2x1 from r4c1-c2 up to r2c1-c2 and wait for both to settle at 0% in their new cells.
  4. Drag the orange key 1x2 from c7 r3-r4 to c6 r1-r2, putting the key receiver under the orange feed and releasing the c7 shaft.
  5. Drag the blue 2x1 from r3c5-c6 to r3c6-c7; column c5 r3 must be empty because the purple feed and the purple 1x2 receiver both use it.
  6. Drag the green 1x2 from c3 r4-r5 to c2 r3-r4, then drag the red 1x1 key from r3c3 to r4c1; this empties c3 r3-r5 for the purple feed.
  7. Drag the green key 2x1 from r5c5-c6 to r5c6-c7 so c5 is clear down to the bottom chamber.
  8. Drag the yellow 1x2 from c3 r1-r2 down to c3 r3-r4 and bring the blue 2x1 back from r3c6-c7 to r1c6-c7; let the purple feed run and watch the bottom counter fall 5,4,3,2,1.
  9. When the bottom counter reaches 0 the bottom shutter opens and exposes the lower receiver row; keep clearing until the left 16 and right 7 inlets roll open.
  10. Fill the four key receivers (red 1x1 r3c3, cyan key 2x1, orange key 1x2 c6 r1-r2, green key 2x1) until the lock-4 red 1x2 at c4 r4-r5 steps 4,3,2 and disappears.
  11. Finish the yellow 1x2, the remaining red verticals, the cyan key 2x1 and the green pieces, then confirm every receiver is gone and the board animates empty before the SAND BLOCKS card.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Leaving the orange 2x1 on r3c1-c2 or the cyan key 2x1 on r4c1-c2 after the blue 2x2 clears.
  • Parking the orange key 1x2 on c7 r3-r4, which blocks the c6-c7 exit the red feed and the lock need.
  • Filling the key receivers before the lock-4 bar is the last red receiver, which wastes their clears.

Quick Tips for Sand Blocks Level 316 (quick clues)

  • Count clears, not positions: the whole 3/5/16/7/7 bank steps once per receiver that reaches 100%.
  • Clear c1-c2 r3-r4 and c6-c7 r3-r4 before the reservoir sand has to travel through them.
  • Hold the four key receivers back until the lock-4 bar is the only red receiver left.

Layout
Upper grid is 7 columns by 5 rows. Feeds: blue reservoir over c1-c2, purple counter 13 over c3, orange counter 2 over c5, red counter 1 over c6-c7. Receivers: blue 2x2 c1-c2 r1-r2; yellow 1x2 c3 r1-r2; cyan 1x1 c4 r1; purple 1x2 c5 r1-r2; red 2x2 c6-c7 r1-r2; orange 2x1 c1-c2 r3; red key 1x1 c3 r3; blue 2x1 c5-c6 r3; orange key 1x2 c7 r3-r4; cyan key 2x1 c1-c2 r4; green 1x2 c3 r4-r5; red lock-4 1x2 c4 r4-r5; purple 2x1 c5-c6 r4; red 2x1 c1-c2 r5; green key 2x1 c5-c6 r5; red 1x1 c7 r5. Fixed lavender 1x2 at c4 r2-r3. Below: red star valve and shutters 3 / 5 / 16 / 7 / 7.
Goal
Take the two free feeds with the blue and red 2x2 squares, keep the c1-c2 and c6-c7 shafts clear, tick the shutter bank down to zero, then unlock the lock-4 red bar and drain the last yellow and red receivers.
Opening
The blue 2x2 at c1-c2 r1-r2 clears under the blue reservoir and the red 2x2 at c6-c7 r1-r2 clears under the red feed, dropping the bank to 1/3/14/5/5. Then the orange 2x1 goes r3c1-c2 to r1c1-c2 and the cyan key 2x1 goes r4c1-c2 to r2c1-c2.
Danger Zone
Leaving the orange 2x1 on r3c1-c2 or the cyan key 2x1 on r4c1-c2 after the blue 2x2 clears puts them in the reservoir fall line and starves the lower chamber; parking the orange key 1x2 on c7 r3-r4 blocks the c6-c7 exit.
Mechanics
Five linked roller shutters that each decrement once per cleared receiver, a red star valve between grid and shutters, four key-marked receivers feeding a lock-4 red 1x2, and 0% to 100% receiver clears define this board.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What actually drives the 3/5/16/7/7 shutters on Level 316?

Each receiver that reaches 100% and disappears steps all five counters down by one; seven clears is what the bottom 7 chamber needs.

  • Why does the left column stall after the blue 2x2 clears?

The orange 2x1 and the cyan key 2x1 are still sitting on r3c1-c2 and r4c1-c2 in the reservoir's fall line; move both up two rows first.

  • How is the lock-4 red bar opened?

Four key-marked receivers feed it: the red 1x1 at c3 r3, the cyan key 2x1, the orange key 1x2 at c6 r1-r2 and the green key 2x1 at c5-c6 r5. The lock counter steps down 4, 3, 2 as they clear.
