Magic Sort level guide
Magic Sort Level 253 Walkthrough
Magic Sort Level 253 is a two-tier pure-routing sort of eleven bottles and nine colors with no locks, wraps, boxes, corks or magic tiles. A red-dark-dark-dark 4-color mixer sits in the top row flanked by a pink-yellow-cyan and a blue-yellow-green 3-color mixer, and the whole puzzle is peeling those top-row mixers into the narrow purple-dark 2-color buffer at bottom col 1 to grow a single accumulator stack, then redistributing the bottom row's dark-red and pink-dark mixers into the same accumulator so every color lands in its own bottle and all eleven end on a single color or empty.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 253 — Full Solution
- Tap the top-row col 5 3-color mixer (pink-yellow-cyan) and pour its pink top into the narrow pink near-empty at top col 2 to start a pink lane; the narrow pink now holds two pinks and the col 5 mixer is reduced to yellow+cyan.
- Pour the yellow top of the same col 5 mixer into the narrow purple-dark 2-color buffer at bottom col 1 so the bottom accumulator holds yellow+purple+dark (3-color); the col 5 mixer is now just cyan.
- Peel the red top of the top-row col 3 4-color mixer (red-dark-dark-dark) onto the bottom accumulator so it holds red+yellow+purple+dark (4-color, full); the col 3 mixer is now three bare darks.
- Drain the top-row col 6 3-color mixer (blue-yellow-green) one layer at a time — pour its blue top into a cleared top-row slot to start a blue home, pour the yellow middle onto the bottom accumulator so it grows to 5 colors, and route the green bottom into a green anchor you are building.
- Pour the top two darks off the col 3 mixer into the bottom-col-4 dark-red 2-color mixer and the narrow bottom-col-2 one-dark buffer so the col 3 mixer is empty and the bottom row's two 2-color mixers are stacked with dark layers; then peel the red off bottom col 4 onto the red lane you started in step 3.
- Tap the bottom-col-5 pink-dark 2-color mixer and pour its pink top onto the pink lane from step 1 to grow it to a full pink stack, then pour its dark bottom into the bottom accumulator so the pink lane is finished and the accumulator now holds dark+yellow+purple+ red+green+cyan.
- Use the cyan still sitting alone in the top col 5 mixer plus any remaining loose darks to top off the bottom accumulator until it is a clean stack, then re-route the green anchor and the new blue anchor into their own bottles so the board is down to 9 single-color bottles plus 2 empties.
- Top off purple, pink, dark, red, orange, yellow, cyan, blue and green into their own bottles, leaving the two emptied buffers as the final empties so all eleven bottles end on a single color (or empty).
Colors in this level:
Purple, Pink, Dark, Red, Orange, Yellow, Cyan, Blue, Green
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pouring the blue top of the top-row col 6 mixer (blue-yellow-green) onto a non-blue stack before a blue home exists, which strands the blue layer since no other bottle on the board is single-color blue at that point.
- Burying the red of the top-row col 3 4-color mixer by peeling dark first, which leaves the red stranded on top of three dark layers and prevents the red lane from ever forming.
- Splitting the bottom accumulator across multiple bottles instead of routing yellow, red, green and cyan into the same narrow bottom-col-1 buffer, which leaves you with four half-built stacks and no single place to host the late-game redistribution.
Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 253 (spoiler-free)
- Peel red off the top-row col 3 red-dark-dark-dark mixer before touching the col 5 or col 6 mixers, or the three darks underneath strand the red layer and the red lane never forms.
- Route yellow, red, green and cyan into the narrow bottom-col-1 purple-dark buffer in that order to grow one accumulator stack instead of four half-built ones.
- Pour the pink top of the bottom-col-5 pink-dark mixer onto the pink lane from step 1 before peeling the dark bottom, so the dark merges into the accumulator instead of getting stranded.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- A two-tier board of eleven bottles and nine colors with no locks, wraps, boxes, corks or magic tiles. Top row is six bottles — a narrow one-purple near-empty at col 1, a narrow one-pink near-empty at col 2, a full red-dark-dark-dark 4-color mixer at col 3, a full single orange at col 4, a full pink-yellow-cyan 3-color mixer at col 5, and a full blue-yellow-green 3-color mixer at col 6. Bottom row is five bottles — a narrow purple-dark 2-color buffer at col 1, a narrow one-dark near-empty at col 2, a full single orange at col 3, a full dark-red 2-color mixer at col 4, and a full pink-dark 2-color mixer at col 5. Three narrow near-empty buffers to start (top purple, top pink, bottom dark) and two full-size orange bottles already sorted but not yet used as final destinations.
- Goal
- Peel red off the top of the top-row col 3 4-color mixer onto a red stack that has to be built from scratch in the bottom row, because the only red source on the board is that single 4-color mixer and the board has no full single-color red to receive it. The first unlock is using the narrow bottom-col-1 purple-dark 2-color buffer as a four-color accumulator that catches yellow, then red, then green, then cyan, so the rest of the board can be drained cleanly into the two pre-sorted orange anchors at top col 4 and bottom col 3.
- Opening
- Tap the top-row col 5 3-color mixer (pink-yellow-cyan) and pour its pink top into the narrow pink near-empty at top col 2 to start a pink lane. Pour the yellow top of the same col 5 mixer into the narrow purple-dark 2-color at bottom col 1 to start a yellow+purple+dark stack. Pour the red top of the top-row col 3 4-color mixer onto that growing bottom-col-1 stack to start a red lane and expose three bare darks on the col 3 mixer.
- Danger Zone
- Pouring the blue top of the top-row col 6 mixer (blue-yellow-green) anywhere before a blue home exists strands the blue layer, because the board has no full single-color blue and you cannot pour blue onto a non-blue top. The top-row col 3 4-color mixer is the only red source on the board — pouring anything except red off its top first buries the red under three dark layers and you lose the red lane before the bottom accumulator is built. The narrow bottom-col-2 one-dark buffer is the only true spare once the narrow top-col-2 pink starts holding pink, so using it as a destination for a color you will need to peel again later locks the run.
- Mechanics
- A two-tier pure sort with a single 4-color accumulator bottle built up from the narrow bottom-col-1 purple-dark 2-color buffer, plus two pre-sorted orange anchors at top col 4 and bottom col 3 that host the orange and blue lanes from mid-game onward. No corks, boxes, magic bottles, wraps or locks — every move is a top-of-stack pour into a matching top or a cleared empty, and the only way to win is to keep the accumulator stack ordered so it can be split cleanly at the end.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why must red be peeled off the top-row col 3 mixer first in Level 253?
The top-row col 3 red-dark-dark-dark 4-color mixer is the only red source on the board — no other bottle starts with red, and the only red stack you can build is the one you start in the bottom accumulator. Pour anything but red off its top first and the three darks underneath trap the red layer under a wall of dark, and the red lane never forms before the bottom accumulator is full.
What is the role of the narrow bottom-col-1 purple-dark buffer in Level 253?
The narrow bottom-col-1 purple-dark 2-color buffer is the only accumulator you can grow into a 4-color stack, so every color the top-row mixers shed (yellow from col 5, red from col 3, green and cyan from col 6) has to land on it in that order. Splitting those colors across multiple bottles instead leaves you with four half-built stacks and no place to host the late-game redistribution, which is the most common way the run deadlocks.
