Magic Sort Level 288 Walkthrough

hard Target: 42 moves 10 colors

Magic Sort Level 288 is a three-tier, twelve-bottle wrap-break release where eight spiral-wrapped flasks cover the top row and the bottom row, and the four middle-row mixers are the only open round flasks on the board at the start. Crack the top-row wraps in left-to-right order onto the color each wrap is already revealing, bank the dark stacks on the spare middle col-5 slot, crack the three bottom-row wraps last to free green, dark blue and cyan, then route every color into a single-color flask so all twelve positions end sorted.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 288 — Full Solution

  1. Pour the dark-blue top segment of the middle-row, col-1 mixer into the tall white wrap at top col 1 to pop the wrap and start a dark-blue stack, then pour the next dark-blue segment of the same mixer into top col 1 to grow the dark-blue lane.
  2. Pour the red top segment of the middle-row, col-2 mixer into the small wrap at top col 2 (which already shows a red sliver) to pop that wrap, then pour the dark middle of the middle-row, col-2 mixer into the spare middle col 5 slot to bank a dark stack.
  3. Pour the dark top of the middle-row, col-3 mixer (dark/orange/dark) into the spare middle col 5 dark stack, then pour the orange middle of that mixer into the wrap at top col 3 to pop that wrap, and pour the dark bottom of the middle-row, col-3 mixer back onto the spare middle col 5 dark stack.
  4. Pour the dark-purple single segment of the middle-row, col-4 mixer into the spare middle col 5 dark stack, then pour any banked dark off the spare slot into the tall wrap at top col 5 to pop that wrap, and top off top col 5 with the rest of the banked dark to make a full dark stack.
  5. Pop the small wrap at top col 4 by pouring the yellow sliver already exposed there into the spare middle col 5 slot to extract the yellow, then pour that same yellow back into top col 4 to start the yellow lane. Repeat the pop-and-bank move on the bottom row — pour the green top off the bottom col-1 wrap onto the spare slot, then pour it back into bottom col 1 to start the green lane.
  6. Pop the dark-blue wrap at bottom col 2 by pouring the dark-blue lane from top col 1 down onto it, then merge dark blue into a single dark-blue stack at bottom col 2. Pop the cyan wrap at bottom col 3 by pouring cyan from the middle row into it, then merge cyan into a single cyan stack at bottom col 3.
  7. Route the rest of the dark stack from the spare middle col 5 into top col 5, drain the remaining dark out of the middle row onto the matching dark lane at top col 5, pour the orange out of the middle row mixers into top col 3 to grow the orange lane, and pour the browns that the top-row wraps revealed into the matching brown slot.
  8. Top off red, brown, pink, yellow, dark purple, orange, cyan, blue, green and dark blue so all twelve bottles end on a single color with no mixed segments and no wrap texture left.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pouring the wrong color into a wrap (dark middle off M2 into the red wrap at top col 2, or red into the yellow wrap at top col 4) which pops the wrap on the wrong top and strands the wrap's revealed color for the rest of the run.
  • Pouring the dark-blue segments off the middle-row, col-1 mixer before the dark-blue wrap at bottom col 2 is cracked, which causes the bottom-col-2 wrap to pop on the wrong top and locks the dark-blue lane.
  • Letting orange, red or any other color touch the spare middle col 5 slot while the dark stack is still being built, which buries the dark lane and leaves the bottom-row wraps with nowhere to land.

Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 288 (spoiler-free)

  • Crack the top-row wraps in left-to-right order onto the color each wrap is already revealing — the wrap at top col 2 already shows red, the one at top col 4 already shows yellow, and matching the incoming pour to that exposed sliver is what pops the wrap cleanly.
  • The middle-row, col-1 mixer is the only dark-blue source on the board, so pour its three dark-blue segments onto top col 1 (or onto the spare middle col 5 slot first) before you crack the dark-blue wrap at bottom col 2.
  • Keep the spare middle col 5 slot as a single-color dark stack until every dark source has been cracked off a wrap — letting orange, red or any other color touch that slot buries the dark lane and the bottom-row wraps have nowhere to land.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
A three-tier, five-column board that resolves to twelve placed bottles plus one spare slot at the middle row, col 5. The top row is five white spiral wrap / tunnel bottles — tall wraps at cols 1, 3 and 5 with no color visible through the wrap, and shorter wraps at cols 2 and 4 with a red sliver and a yellow sliver already peeking out. The middle row is four open round flasks, a three-segment dark-blue mixer at col 1, a red-on-top dark-in-middle two-segment bottle at col 2, a dark-on-top orange-in-middle dark-on-bottom three-segment bottle at col 3, and a single dark-purple segment at col 4. The bottom row is three short wrap bottles at cols 1, 2, 3 with green, dark blue and cyan already visible inside.
Goal
Crack every top-row wrap in left-to-right order onto the color it is already revealing, host the dark stacks on the spare middle col 5 slot, then crack the three bottom-row wraps last to free green, dark blue and cyan onto the bottom row. After all eight wraps have popped, route every color into a single-color flask so the board ends with twelve sorted positions and no wrap texture left. The first unlock is pouring the dark-blue top off the middle-row, col-1 mixer into the tall wrap at top col 1 — the wrap shatters, dark blue lands inside, and top col 1 becomes a working flask.
Opening
Pour the dark-blue top segment of the middle-row, col-1 mixer into the tall white wrap at top col 1 to pop the wrap and start a dark-blue stack. Pour the next dark-blue segment of that same mixer into top col 1 to grow the dark-blue lane. Pour the red top segment of the middle-row, col-2 mixer into the small wrap at top col 2 (which already shows a red sliver) to pop that wrap and start a red lane. Pour the dark middle of the middle-row, col-2 mixer into the spare middle col 5 slot to bank a dark stack, then pour the dark top of the middle-row, col-3 mixer into the same spare slot to grow the dark stack.
Danger Zone
Pouring the wrong color into a wrap (dark middle off M2 into the red wrap at top col 2, or red into the yellow wrap at top col 4) burns the wrap's only revealed color and locks the bottle onto the wrong top. The top col 4 wrap is the only place to bank yellow because the yellow sliver is already exposed there, so any yellow that lands on a non-matching base buries yellow for the rest of the run. The middle-row, col-1 mixer is the only source of dark blue, so pour its three dark-blue segments in order onto top col 1 before you crack the dark-blue wrap at bottom col 2 — reverse the order and the bottom-col-2 wrap pops on the wrong top and the dark-blue lane locks. The spare middle col 5 slot must remain a single- color dark stack until the bottom-row wraps are cracked, so do not let orange or any other color touch that slot until the dark lane is fully built.
Mechanics
A wrap-break release puzzle with eight spiral-wrapped flasks covering the top row (five wraps) and the bottom row (three wraps). The four middle-row mixers are the only open flasks at the start, the spare slot at middle col 5 is the only non-wrap buffer, and every wrap that pops hands you one more working flask. The chokepoint is wrap-first then sort: crack the five top-row wraps in left-to-right order so each one banks the color it was already showing, use the spare middle col 5 to host the dark stacks, crack the three bottom-row wraps last to free green, dark blue and cyan onto the bottom row, then route every color to a single-color flask so the board ends on twelve sorted bottles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you crack the eight wrap bottles in Magic Sort Level 288?

Crack the five top-row wraps in left-to-right order by matching the incoming pour to the color each wrap is already revealing — pour dark blue into the tall wrap at top col 1, red into the small wrap at top col 2, orange into the tall wrap at top col 3, yellow into the small wrap at top col 4, and dark into the tall wrap at top col 5. Then crack the three bottom-row wraps last by pouring green into bottom col 1, dark blue into bottom col 2 and cyan into bottom col 3. Each wrap that pops hands you one more working flask.

  • Why must the spare middle col 5 slot stay a single-color dark stack until the bottom-row wraps are cracked?

The dark middle off M2, the dark tops and bottoms of M3, and the dark-purple single segment of M4 are the only dark sources on the board, and the spare middle col 5 slot is the only non-wrap buffer to host them. If orange, red or any other color touches that slot before the dark stack is built, the dark lane buries and the three bottom-row wraps have no clean dark pour to pop on, so the bottom row stays locked for the rest of the run.
