Block Out Level 178 Walkthrough

hard 8 colors

Block Out Level 178 joins two rectangular chambers through a narrow hourglass waist, with an outlined 4 counter and marked orange-purple cluster in the upper room. Reduce that counter, clear red from the lower middle, then alternate the cyan and pink L-shapes through the waist so neither steals the only turning square.

Board notes 5 details
Layout
Hourglass board with two rectangular chambers joined by a narrow waist. Upper-left holds a tall outlined counter starting at 4; marked orange and purple pieces sit near the upper center; red, green, cyan, pink, yellow, and blue L-shaped groups fill both chambers with exits on every side.
Goal
Reduce the outlined 4 block, clear the marked upper pieces, free the lower-middle red group, then pass cyan and pink L-shapes through the waist and finish the remaining corner packs.
Opening
Clear the small top yellow and red groups, remove the purple group beside the marked orange piece to begin reducing the outlined 4, then open the upper center.
Danger Zone
The cyan L and pink L both need the hourglass waist. Pulling cyan downward before the red lower-middle group leaves blocks pink from turning toward its exit.
Mechanics
Two chambers share a narrow waist; an outlined 4 counter and linked marked pieces occupy the upper chamber while several L-shapes compete below.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the outlined 4 track in Level 178?

It is an upper-left counter footprint that must fully reduce after the marked orange and purple pieces leave. Leftover footprint cells block that corner's exit.

  • Why does cyan-before-red freeze the pink L?

Cyan and pink both need the hourglass waist. Pulling cyan down while lower-middle red still blocks pink's turning square locks both L-shapes.
