Colony Flow! Level 85 Walkthrough

hard 10 colors

Colony Flow Level 85 is an orange fox portrait board where the red platform, gray shadows, yellow tail, and orange body all share one route, so the tiny red 6 opener has to clear before the large yellow 96 tail wave in the active row is touched.

How to Solve Colony Flow! Level 85 — Full Solution

  1. Tap the red 6 stack in the first cell of the 4-cell active row. Red ants walk the dirt path up to the red platform under the fox, and the red platform cells closest to the ant hole start clearing in the first beat. Wait for the first red ants to clear the bottom edge of the art before tapping the next stack. Do not tap the gray 39, yellow 96, black 64, or any source row stack yet.
  2. Tap the gray 39 stack in the second cell of the active row. Gray ants walk the same dirt path and start tracing the gray shadow cells around the fox silhouette. Red and gray share the path, so leave one beat between them so the red platform is mostly cleared before the gray shadows start clearing. Do not tap the yellow 96, black 64, or any source row stack yet.
  3. Tap the yellow 96 stack in the third cell of the active row. Yellow ants walk the dirt path and start clearing the yellow highlight cells on the curling tail. Gray and yellow share the path, so leave one beat between the gray wave and the yellow wave so the gray shadows are at least half-cleared before the tail highlights start clearing. Do not tap the black 64 or any source row stack yet.
  4. Tap the black 64 stack in the fourth cell of the active row. Black ants walk the dirt path and start clearing the dark eye pupils and the black mouth line. Yellow and black share the path, so leave one beat between the yellow wave and the black wave so the tail highlights are mostly cleared before the eyes start clearing. Do not tap any source row stack yet.
  5. Tap the yellow 75 stack in the first cell of source row 1 as it rises into the active row, then the orange 25 in the second cell, then the orange 35 in the third cell, then the orange 35 in the fourth cell. Yellow ants clear the last tail highlight cells, and orange ants start clearing the orange body, ears, and tail. Leave one beat between each wave so the black eyes are mostly cleared before the orange body starts clearing. Do not tap any source row 2 or 3 stack yet.
  6. Tap the yellow 17 stack in the first cell of source row 2, then the green 15 in the second cell, then the pink 15 in the third cell, then the blue 40 in the fourth cell, as each one rises into the active row. Green ants clear the green accent cells, pink ants clear the pink cheek dots, and blue ants clear the blue tail shadows. Leave one beat between each wave. Do not tap any source row 3 stack yet.
  7. Tap the pink 17 stack in the first cell of source row 3, then the brown 15 in the second cell, then the blue 15 in the third cell, then the orange 40 in the fourth cell, as each one rises into the active row. Brown ants clear the brown outline, blue ants clear the last tail shadow cells, and orange ants clear the last fur cells and the white checkered tail tip through the late refill waves. The fox silhouette clears once the last matching cube is routed off and the level banner appears.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Firing the yellow 96 stack in the third cell of the active row before the red 6 and gray 39 waves have cleared the dirt path up to the red platform, which sends yellow ants across the red base that red still has to clear and stalls them on the remaining tail cells, blocking the yellow 75 in source row 1 that needs to clear the rest of the tail highlights.
  • Tapping the orange 25 stack in source row 1 column 2 while yellow ants are still walking the dirt path up to the yellow tail highlights, which strands orange ants on the remaining body cells and blocks the orange 35 stacks in source row 1 that need to clear the orange fur.
  • Letting the blue 40 in source row 2 column 4 rise into the active row before the orange body is at least half-cleared, which strands blue ants on the remaining tail shadow cells.

Quick Tips for Colony Flow! Level 85 (spoiler-free)

  • Tap the red 6, gray 39, yellow 96, and black 64 in that order from the active row before you touch any source row stack. The red platform, the gray shadows, the yellow tail highlights, and the black eyes are the four highest-traffic color regions on the fox portrait, and they have to clear together before the orange 25 in source row 1 is allowed onto the dirt path.
  • Treat the active row as the opener queue and the 3-row, 4-column source grid as the supply. Tap the four stacks in source row 1 only after the four active row waves have cleared, the four stacks in source row 2 only after source row 1 has cleared, and the four stacks in source row 3 only after source row 2 has cleared.
  • Save the orange 25 in source row 1 column 2 for after the yellow 96 active row wave has at least started clearing the tail highlights. The orange body is one of the largest color regions in the art, and a premature orange click strands orange ants on remaining fur cells.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
The board opens in portrait view. The top half of the screen holds a pixel-art orange-and-white fox or cat portrait: an orange body with white face patches, large white eyes with dark pupils, pointed orange ears, an open mouth showing teeth, and a long curling orange tail with a white checkered tip on a small red platform. Below the dirt strip the working area is a 4-cell top active row plus a 3-row, 4-column source grid. The 4-cell top active row opens as red 6, gray 39, yellow 96, black 64. Source row 1 reads yellow 75, orange 25, orange 35, orange 35. Source row 2 reads yellow 17, green 15, pink 15, blue 40. Source row 3 reads pink 17, brown 15, blue 15, orange 40.
Goal
Red cubes from the red 6 in the active row plus the late red refills must clear the small red platform under the fox and the red accent cells along the tail base. Orange cubes from the orange stacks in source rows 1 and 3 plus the late orange refills must clear the orange body, ears, and the long curling tail. White cubes from the late white refills must clear the white face patches and the white checkered tail tip. Gray cubes from the gray 39 in the active row plus the late gray refills must clear the gray shadow cells around the silhouette. Yellow cubes from the yellow 96 in the active row, the yellow 75 in source row 1, the yellow 17 in source row 2, the pink 17 in source row 3, and the late yellow refills must clear the yellow highlight cells on the tail. Green cubes from the green 15 in source row 2 plus the late green refills must clear the small green accent cells on the lower body. Pink cubes from the pink 15 in source row 2 plus the late pink refills must clear the small pink cheek dots. Blue cubes from the blue 40 in source row 2, the blue 15 in source row 3, and the late blue refills must clear the blue shadow accents on the tail. Brown cubes from the brown 15 in source row 3 plus the late brown refills must clear the brown outline wrapping the silhouette. Black cubes from the black 64 in the active row plus the late black refills must clear the dark eye pupils and the black mouth line.
Opening
The board starts with the red 6 stack in the first cell of the 4-cell active row. Red 6 is the smallest numbered stack in the active row and the red platform is the smallest color region at the bottom of the art, so opening with red 6 dispatches red ants up the dirt path in the first beat and the red platform cells closest to the ant hole start clearing immediately. The second confirmed tap is the gray 39 stack in the second cell of the active row, which sends gray ants up the same dirt path and starts tracing the gray shadow cells around the silhouette. The third confirmed tap is the yellow 96 stack in the third cell of the active row, which sends yellow ants up the dirt path and starts clearing the yellow highlight cells on the tail. The black 64 in the fourth cell of the active row is held for one beat so the red, gray, and yellow waves can clear the perimeter of the fox before the dark eye and mouth accents are touched. Every source row stack is held for one beat so the red 6, gray 39, and yellow 96 active row waves can clear the perimeter first.
Danger Zone
The first real trap is firing the yellow 96 stack in the third cell of the active row before the red 6 and gray 39 waves have cleared the ant trail. The yellow highlight cells on the tail are one of the largest yellow regions in the picture, and if the player taps the yellow 96 before the red platform and gray shadows have at least started clearing, yellow ants use the same dirt path as the red and gray ants and they stall on the remaining tail cells, blocking the yellow 75 in source row 1 that needs to clear the rest of the tail highlights. The other trap is firing the orange 25 stack in source row 1 column 2 while yellow ants are still walking the dirt path up to the yellow tail highlights, because orange ants share the same dirt path as the yellow ants and a premature orange click strands orange ants on the remaining body cells and blocks the orange 35 stacks in source row 1 that need to clear the orange fur. Tapping the blue 40 in source row 2 column 4 before the orange body is at least half-cleared is also bad, because blue ants stall on the remaining tail shadow cells.
Mechanics
Level 85 is a multi-stack color-routing board combined with a pixel-art clear goal and a single ant hole, with an orange fox-or-cat portrait scene. The 4-cell top active row plus the 3-row, 4-column source grid makes this a 16-stack working area with no empty white buffer pad from the start, so every tap immediately changes a route. The fox portrait has nine main color families (red platform, orange body and tail, white face and tail tip, gray shadows, yellow highlights, green accents, pink cheeks, blue tail shadows, brown outline, black eyes) plus the late refill waves, and the player has to keep all of those routes staged at once. Compared to Level 84's blue-faced character board, this fox scene adds a much larger yellow 96 active-row wave and a long curling tail region that forces the player to drain the tiny red 6 platform opener before the large yellow 96 tail wave is allowed onto the dirt path.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which stack should I lead with in Colony Flow Level 85?

Lead with the red 6 stack in the first cell of the 4-cell active row, then the gray 39 stack in the second cell, then the yellow 96 stack in the third cell, then the black 64 stack in the fourth cell. This dispatches the red, gray, yellow, and black ants up the dirt path in that order and clears the red platform, the gray shadows, the yellow tail highlights, and the black eyes together before the orange 25 in source row 1 is allowed onto the dirt path.

  • Why should I hold the yellow 96 stack in Colony Flow Level 85?

The yellow 96 stack in the third cell of the active row is the largest yellow wave on the board, and the yellow tail highlights only sit in cells that are still open while the red platform and gray shadows are clearing. If yellow ants are sent before the red 6 and gray 39 waves have at least started clearing their color regions, they stall on the remaining tail cells, the yellow 75 in source row 1 waiting in the active queue cannot reach the rest of the tail highlights, and the orange 25 in source row 1 column 2 gets stranded behind active yellow ants on the dirt path.
