Magic Sort Level 216 Walkthrough

hard Target: 48 moves 9 colors

Magic Sort Level 216 is a three-tier, twelve-bottle locked-box plus cork release — a four-color red-green-yellow-pink mixer at top-col 1 that has to be drained into a locked wooden box to reveal the four middle-row bottles, a small corked bottle at top-col 2 hiding a purple segment, two frozen-ice single-color bottles (red at bottom-3, blue at bottom-4), and a red-yellow-pink mixer at bottom-1. Pour the top-1 stack into the box padlock, pop the top-2 cork with the revealed purple, melt the bottom-3 and bottom-4 ice caps, and drain bottom-1 through the middle row until all twelve bottles hold a single color.

How to Solve Magic Sort Level 216 — Full Solution

  1. Tap top-col 1 and pour its red top into the brass padlock on the wooden box, then peel the green off top-col 1 and pour it into the padlock as well.
  2. Pour the yellow and pink off top-col 1 into the padlock one after the other — the padlock pops, the wooden box splits open, and four new bottles drop into the middle row (middle 1, middle 2, middle 3, middle 4).
  3. Tap the small corked bottle at top-col 2 and pour a purple from the newly-revealed middle row onto the cork — the cork pops, the hidden purple joins the bottle on top, and top-col 2 becomes a normal sort slot holding a purple segment.
  4. Pour a matching red from the middle row onto the red cap on bottom-col 3 to melt the ice, then pour a matching blue from the middle row onto the blue cap on bottom-col 4 the same way to melt that ice.
  5. Drain the bottom-col 1 red-yellow-pink mixer top-first — pour its red onto the now-clean bottom-3 red lane, its yellow onto a clean middle-row flask, and its pink onto a clean middle-row flask.
  6. Route the released purple from top-col 2 onto a clean middle-row flask to start a purple lane, then pour the four top-1 colors that were absorbed by the box back onto their matching lanes in the middle row (or onto the now-empty top-col 3 and top-col 4 slots).
  7. Use the four middle-row flasks plus the top-col 3 and top-col 4 empties to bank red, yellow, green, pink, purple, orange and brown lanes, draining every remaining segment from the middle row onto its own stack.
  8. Top off red, yellow, green, pink, purple, orange, brown, blue and cyan so all twelve bottles end on a single color with no mixed segments left.

Colors in this level:

Red, Green, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Blue, Orange, Brown, Cyan

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Spending early moves sorting bottom-1's red-yellow-pink mixer or melting the bottom-3 and bottom-4 ice caps, which burns the only four colors the wooden box padlock accepts and leaves the middle row locked for the rest of the run.
  • Pouring a non-purple color onto the top-col 2 cork, which seals the cork shut and strands the hidden purple segment inside an unusable bottle.
  • Pouring a non-matching color onto the frozen caps on bottom-3 (red) or bottom-4 (blue), which strands a wrong color on top of the red or blue and burns that bottle for the rest of the run.

Quick Tips for Magic Sort Level 216 (spoiler-free)

  • Drain the top-col 1 red-green-yellow-pink mixer into the wooden box padlock before you touch anything on the bottom row — those four colors are the only key the box accepts.
  • Pop the top-col 2 cork with a purple from the newly-revealed middle row, not with a purple from any other source — pouring any other color onto the cork seals it shut for the rest of the run.
  • Melt the bottom-3 and bottom-4 ice caps with matching red and blue pours only — a non-matching pour strands a wrong color on top of the red or blue and burns that bottle.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
A three-tier board of twelve bottles (4-4-4) with no wraps or magic bottles. The top row is four bottles — a four-color red-green-yellow-pink mixer at col 1, a small corked bottle at col 2 (with a tiny cork tag and a hidden purple segment underneath), an empty flask at col 3, and an empty flask at col 4. The middle row is one large horizontal wooden box, locked with a central brass padlock and a key slot. The bottom row is four bottles — a three-color red-yellow-pink mixer at col 1, an empty flask at col 2, a single red with a frozen-ice cap on top at col 3, and a single blue with a frozen-ice cap on top at col 4. The board starts with one four-color mixer, one corked bottle, one locked wooden box, two frozen single-color bottles, one three-color mixer, and exactly two real empties.
Goal
Drain the top-col 1 red-green-yellow-pink stack color-by-color into the brass padlock on the wooden box so the box pops open and four new middle-row bottles drop in. Then route purple from the just-revealed middle row onto the top-col 2 cork to release the hidden purple, melt the frozen caps on bottom-3 and bottom-4 with matching red and blue pours, and drain bottom-1's red-yellow-pink mixer top-first through the middle row until all twelve bottles end on a single color.
Opening
Tap top-col 1 and pour its red top into the brass padlock on the wooden box, then peel the green, yellow and pink off the same stack one after another into the padlock. The padlock pops, the wooden box splits open, and four new bottles drop into the middle row (middle 1, middle 2, middle 3, middle 4). Tap the corked bottle at top-col 2 and pour a purple from the newly-revealed middle row onto the cork — the cork pops, the hidden purple joins the bottle on top, and top-col 2 becomes a normal sort slot.
Danger Zone
The wooden box is the only path to the four middle-row bottles, so do not spend early moves sorting bottom-1's red-yellow-pink mixer or melting the ice caps on bottom-3 and bottom-4 — those four colors that would unlock the box all sit on top-col 1 and are the only key the box accepts. The top-2 cork only opens on purple, and the only purple source on the board lives in the middle row after the box opens — pour anything other than purple onto the cork and it seals shut, stranding the hidden purple segment inside an unusable bottle. The two frozen caps on bottom-3 (red) and bottom-4 (blue) only melt on a matching pour, so do not pour a non-matching color onto them or you strand a wrong color on top of the red or blue and burn the bottle for the rest of the run.
Mechanics
A locked-wooden-box plus corked-bottle release board on a slim three-tier frame. The wooden box hides the entire middle row, the cork hides a purple segment, and two bottom-row bottles are ice-locked. The puzzle is sequencing — drain top-1 into the box to reveal the four middle bottles, pop the top-2 cork with one of those revealed purples, then route every other color through the middle row while the ice caps on bottom-3 and bottom-4 wait for their matching pour. The board never has more than two real empties at once, so pour order is the entire game.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you open the locked wooden box in Magic Sort Level 216?

Tap top-col 1 and pour its red top into the brass padlock on the wooden box, then peel the green, yellow and pink off the same stack one after another into the padlock. The padlock pops, the wooden box splits open, and four new bottles drop into the middle row. The four top-1 colors are the only key the box accepts, so do not start by sorting bottom-1 or melting the ice caps or you run out of key colors.

  • Why does the top-col 2 cork only open on purple in Level 216?

The cork hides a purple segment and will only pop when a matching purple is poured onto it. The only purple on the board lives in the middle row after the box opens, so the sequence has to be box first, then cork. Pouring any other color onto the cork seals it shut and strands the hidden purple segment inside an unusable bottle for the rest of the run.

  • How do the frozen caps on bottom-3 and bottom-4 work in Level 216?

Each frozen cap is an ice layer that only melts when a matching color is poured onto it. Bottom-3's cap is red, so a red pour from the middle row or bottom-1 melts it. Bottom-4's cap is blue, so a blue pour melts it. A non-matching pour strands a wrong color on top of the red or blue and burns that bottle for the rest of the run.
