Sand Blocks level guide
Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle Level 396 Walkthrough
Level 396 is a tall board with two sand sources. A top-left hopper fills whatever you park beneath it, and a pink side tray appears once the purple shutter marked 6 rolls up. An orange vault in the lower grid holds three stacked pieces; you pull them out one at a time. Its empty shell is the last receiver on the board.

How to Solve Sand Blocks Level 396 — Full Solution
- At 3:00 on the timer, slide the dark-purple bar under the hopper. It fills from the stored purple and clears, and the shutter badge drops to 5 by 2:58.
- The pipe now loads the hopper with yellow. Bring a yellow square underneath; it clears at about 2:55 and the badge reads 4. A second yellow square clears at about 2:53 for 3.
- Park the yellow bar under the hopper. It fills around 2:48 and the badge reads 2 at 2:47. The pipe has switched to white and then red, so the hopper now holds a yellow remnant under white.
- Use up the last yellow on another yellow square, which reaches 100% at about 2:32 (badge 1). Then put the white square underneath; it clears at 2:31 and the shutter rolls up at about 2:30.
- The lower grid is now open. Park a small magenta square under the pink side tray; it climbs through 73% and 79% and reaches 100% at about 2:09.
- Feed white from the hopper while its bottom layer is still white: a small white square at about 1:54, then the tall white vertical at 1:30.
- Back at the side tray, the magenta bar fills from 57% to 95% between about 1:13 and 1:12 and clears. The tray turns green; one green piece reaches 100% at 1:09 and a second clears by 1:05. The tray then switches to cyan.
- Open the vault. Drag the white L out at about 0:59 (badge 2) and it fills under the hopper by 0:58. Pull the red square out next (badge 1) and it clears under the hopper at about 0:56, as the top pipe turns blue.
- Finish the red with the red L under the hopper (clears around 0:38), then run the blue pieces: blue L and a small blue square at about 0:35, the blue bar at 0:33.
- On the right, put the leftover green bar and a cyan bar under the tray (100% at 0:32 and 0:31). Drag the cyan L out of the vault; the badge disappears by 0:28, and the cyan L starts filling under the tray.
- The tray turns brown and then orange. Fill the brown pieces (24% at 0:28, the brown L 8% to 17% at 0:27-0:26), then the orange bar (54% at 0:24).
- Finally, slide the empty orange vault frame under the tray. It fills from 17% at 0:23 to 75% at 0:22, clears at about 0:21, and SAND BLOCKS appears.
Colors in this level:
Purple, Yellow, White, Red, Blue, Magenta, Green, Cyan, Brown, Orange
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Parking a red piece under the hopper while white still lines its bottom. It stays at 0% and blocks the white piece you need.
- Treating the vault badge as a lock. It is a stack count, and you empty it by dragging the stored pieces out.
- Spending the orange frame on another colour or boxing it in. It is the last receiver and needs the tray's final orange sand.
Quick Tips for Sand Blocks Level 396 (quick clues)
- Match each piece to the hopper's bottom layer, not the colour pouring in from the top pipe.
- Drag the vault pieces out in order (white L, red square, cyan L). The badge drops as each one leaves.
- Keep one orange piece and the vault shell for the side tray's last colour.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- Portrait board. Top-left: a hopper cell under the top pipe, loaded with purple sand at the start. Beside and below it is a packed strip of receivers: a dark-purple bar under the hopper, blue L, green, red and brown bars, a magenta square, cyan bars, and small yellow and white squares on the right edge. Below the strip, a purple shutter marked 6 covers the lower grid, and a pink nozzle sits on the right wall at shutter height. Under the shutter is a dense grid with an orange C-shaped vault (badge 3) on the left, a glass tray fed by the right-wall nozzle, and red, blue, brown, cyan, green, magenta and white pieces.
- Goal
- Clear six receivers from the hopper to lift the shutter. Then empty the orange vault and feed the rest of the grid from the hopper and the side tray. Finally fill the vault shell itself in orange before the 3:00 timer runs out.
- Opening
- Slide the dark-purple bar under the hopper while it still holds purple sand. The top pipe then loads the hopper with yellow, so bring the yellow squares and the yellow bar under it one after another.
- Danger Zone
- The hopper releases its bottom layer first. When white sits under red, a red piece parked there sits at 0% until the white is used, so always check the hopper's bottom colour before parking a receiver.
- Mechanics
- Hopper with layered sand from a colour-changing top pipe (yellow, then white, red and blue), a shutter badge that counts hopper clears from 6, a right-wall tray that cycles pink, green, cyan, brown and orange, and a vault badge that counts the pieces still stored inside (white L, red square, cyan L).
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the 6 on the purple shutter count?
Receivers cleared from the top-left hopper: the dark-purple bar, four yellow pieces and a white square. The sixth clear lifts the shutter at about 2:30 on the timer.
What is the orange frame with the 3 badge?
A vault that stores three pieces: a white L, a red square and a cyan L. Each time you drag one out, the badge drops by one. Once it is empty, the orange shell is the final receiver.
How much time is left at the end?
The orange shell clears with about 21 seconds left on the 3:00 timer.
