Sand Blocks level guide
Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle Level 398 Walkthrough
Level 398 carries the game's Hard label. It starts on the lower half only, with a purple shutter marked 4 over the top. Four blue receivers filled from the left-wall tray lift the shutter. That uncovers a yellow-fed hopper in the top-right corner, a three-piece vault and a padlocked green piece that only a key can open. The last receiver clears with about two seconds left.

How to Solve Sand Blocks Level 398 — Full Solution
- At 2:15 on the timer, the blue bar under the left tray reaches 100% and the shutter drops from 4 to 3.
- Slide a blue square under the tray; it goes from 67% to 100% between about 2:10 and 2:09 (shutter 2). A small blue piece follows at 73% around 2:04 (shutter 1), and the nozzle turns white.
- Top the last blue piece up to 100% at about 2:02. The shutter rolls up at 2:01, uncovering the vault, the padlocked green vertical and the top-right hopper, which is already full of yellow.
- Start using white from the left tray. A white square is filling under it at about 1:48.
- Park yellow receivers under the top-right hopper one after another: the yellow bar reaches 100% at about 1:38 as the tube turns purple, and yellow squares follow around 1:29 and 1:09-1:08.
- Once yellow is gone, the purple layer comes out. A purple vertical fills at about 1:06, and the tube switches to red.
- Take red from the hopper: a red vertical is full at about 0:57. Next, a purple L reads 70% at 0:37. Clear the orange bar next; it goes 35% to 100% between 0:34 and 0:33.
- On the left, fill the large white square under the tray (above 90% at 0:29). The tray turns green at about 0:28.
- Drag the vault's first piece, a white vertical, out at about 0:22 (badge 2); it fills under the tray by 0:21. Put the key-marked green L under the tray as well; it reaches 100% at 0:19 and releases a key.
- Drag the vault's green key piece out (the badge drops to 1) and push the next key-marked green L under the tray; it is in the 50s at 0:15. At 0:14 its key flies into the padlock, and by 0:13 the green vertical is free. It fills under the tray to 100% at about 0:12.
- The tray turns brown, so fill the brown L pieces (full around 0:11 and 0:09). Drag the vault's red 2x2 up under the top-right hopper; it is 100% at 0:08.
- Finish on orange and magenta. An orange vertical fills under the hopper around 0:07, the magenta L reaches the 70s at 0:06, the magenta bar is full at 0:04, the small orange square clears at 0:04, and the magenta vertical at 55% at 0:03 clears to leave an empty board at about 0:02.
Colors in this level:
Blue, White, Yellow, Purple, Red, Orange, Green, Brown, Magenta
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Filling non-blue pieces before the shutter lifts. Only the four blue clears count.
- Letting the green tray phase pass before both key pieces have been filled, which leaves the padlock locked.
- Parking a piece under the top-right hopper whose colour does not match its current bottom layer. Yellow comes out first, then purple, red and orange.
Quick Tips for Sand Blocks Level 398 (quick clues)
- Only blue pieces from the left tray count toward the shutter's 4.
- Keep the key-marked green pieces and the padlocked green vertical near the left tray for the green phase.
- The vault's last piece is a red 2x2 for the top-right hopper, so keep a clear path from the vault to the hopper.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- Two stacked sections. At the start, the upper section is hidden under a purple shutter marked 4, with a yellow tube above it. In the lower section, a left-wall nozzle fills a glass tray at the top-left with blue sand. Around it are a magenta bar, a red 2x2, a brown vertical, a small blue square, a large white square on the right, a blue bar, an orange square, a second magenta bar, yellow squares, a green bar marked with a key, a white bar, a magenta L and a purple L along the bottom. The upper section holds a vault with badge 3 in the top-left, a hopper in the top-right under the tube, a green vertical with a padlock on the right edge, and dense magenta, red, brown, orange, yellow and green pieces.
- Goal
- Complete four blue receivers to lift the shutter. Then feed the rest of the board from the top-right hopper and the left-wall tray, empty the vault, and use the key-marked green pieces to unlock the padlocked green vertical, all before the 2:15 timer runs out.
- Opening
- The blue bar under the tray fills and clears right away, taking the shutter to 3. Keep swapping small blue receivers in beneath the tray, and the shutter lifts at about 2:01.
- Danger Zone
- The padlocked green vertical cannot take sand until a key reaches it, and the key only appears when a key-marked green piece clears under the left tray. The tray is green only for a short window, from about 0:28 to 0:12, so keep the key pieces and the padlocked piece together near the tray.
- Mechanics
- Shutter count from 4 driven by blue clears; a top-right hopper that stores layered sand as its tube changes from yellow to purple, red and orange; a left-wall tray that cycles blue, white, green, brown and magenta; a vault that releases a white piece, a green key piece and a red 2x2 in turn; and a key that flies to the padlock when its green piece clears.
Frequently Asked Questions
What lifts the shutter marked 4?
Four blue receivers filled from the left-wall tray. The fourth reaches 100% at about 2:02, and the shutter rolls up at 2:01.
How is the padlocked green piece opened?
Fill the key-marked green pieces under the left tray while it pours green. When the second key piece clears at about 0:14, its key flies into the padlock and the green vertical is free to fill.
What is inside the vault with badge 3?
A white vertical, a green key piece and a red 2x2, released one at a time. The badge counts how many are left inside.
