Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle Level 404 Walkthrough
Level 404 starts on a 3:15 timer with layered top sand, a left side hopper, and three visible numbered covers. Clear the red upper-right cover first, step down the cyan and yellow covers, then use the opened lock lane to finish the dark, blue, purple, white, and green receivers around the fixed lavender slab.

How to Solve Sand Blocks Level 404 — Full Solution
- 3:15-2:58 - Start under the yellow top feed. Work the short black and red receivers through the lower-center lane so the red upper cover can begin dropping; it is still visibly marked 2 at 2:58.
- 2:58-2:48 - Keep clearing red around the upper-right cover. The red badge reaches 1 by about 2:48 while the cyan top-center cover remains at 3.
- 2:48-2:29 - Finish the red stage and wait for the board to settle. By about 2:29 the red cover has disappeared, exposing the right side of the upper chamber.
- 2:29-2:09 - Feed cyan receivers from the top-center and the left hopper. The cyan cover is marked 2 around 2:19 and 1 around 2:09.
- 2:09-1:59 - Let the yellow layer take over again. The large yellow cover is visible at badge 2 around 1:59; keep its receiver footprint open instead of filling the lane with late colors.
- 1:59-1:38 - Route the white/gray feed into the white receiver group as the yellow cover drops from 2 toward 1. Around 1:38 the white phase is active and the yellow cover is still the main blocker.
- 1:38-1:18 - Clear the last yellow-cover step and the lock-side pieces. Around 1:18 the large yellow cover is gone and the darker top feed becomes reachable.
- 1:18-0:59 - Switch to the dark and black receivers, using the open right side as a temporary landing zone. Keep the magenta and white L pieces away from the central chute until their colors are actually feeding.
- 0:59-0:49 - Bring the blue pieces under the new blue layer; the board is much smaller now and the large lavender slab no longer traps the bottom receivers.
- 0:49-0:39 - Finish the blue transfer, then move the purple receiver into the top path. A purple receiver is visibly filling around 0:39.
- 0:39-0:19 - Clear the remaining purple, magenta, white, and green pieces in the opened lower half. The board reaches the clear animation around 0:19.
Colors in this level:
Yellow, Red, Cyan, White, Black, Blue, Purple, Green, Magenta
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Trying to use the yellow cover before the red upper-right cover has disappeared.
- Blocking the central chute with a tall receiver before the cyan and yellow badges update.
- Dragging purple pieces into the feed path too early; purple belongs to the late cleanup.
Quick Tips for Sand Blocks Level 404 (quick clues)
- Clear the red upper-right cover before trying to solve the yellow or cyan covers.
- After every visible badge change, wait for the board to settle before occupying the center chute again.
- Save purple for the late phase; the purple receiver does not start filling until after the blue/dark cleanup is underway.
Board notes 5 details
- Layout
- Six columns. The top-center pipe starts yellow above a cyan horizontal cover marked 3. A large yellow cover marked 3 spans the upper-left/middle, and a red cover on the upper-right drops from 3 to 2 almost immediately. A left side hopper starts red and later changes to cyan and white. The middle contains a fixed lavender slab, and the lower board holds purple, black, red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and white receivers, including a green vertical above a yellow lock tile marked 2.
- Goal
- Use the early red receivers to remove the upper-right cover, then keep the top-center and left-side lanes open while cyan and yellow badges count down. Once the lock-side lane opens, switch into the white, dark, blue, and purple phases without blocking the chute beside the lavender slab.
- Opening
- Work the short black and red receivers through the lower-center lane. The red cover is still marked 2 around 2:58, reaches 1 around 2:48, and is gone by about 2:29 while the cyan cover remains marked 3.
- Danger Zone
- The chute beside the fixed lavender slab is the only reliable transfer lane. Parking a tall green, white, or magenta receiver there before the covers update blocks the cyan/yellow handoff and delays the lock tile.
- Mechanics
- Layered top feed, color-changing left hopper, red/yellow/cyan numbered covers, a lower lock/key lane, and a fixed central slab that forces bottom-half staging before the late cleanup.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I clear first in Level 404?
Clear the red upper-right cover first. It drops to badge 2 near 2:58, badge 1 near 2:48, and is gone around 2:29.
Why do my cyan and yellow pieces get stuck?
The fixed lavender slab leaves only a narrow transfer lane. If a tall late-color receiver blocks that chute, the cyan and yellow covers cannot sit under the active feed.
When does the purple receiver matter?
Late. The purple receiver is visibly filling around 0:39, after the red, cyan, yellow, dark, and blue phases have already opened the board.
