Sand Blocks: Drop Puzzle Level 389 Walkthrough

expert 9 colors

Level 389 hangs four feeds over a seven-column board: a purple side slot in the c1 notch, a white-then-pink-then-brown feed behind a glass shutter marked 5 at c5, and a cyan-then-yellow feed behind a shutter marked 28 at c7. Almost every number on the board (both shutters, the ice caps 36 and 16, three pink blocks marked 8 and the trays 15 and 10) ticks down on each clear, so steady small clears open the level; tray 10 hides a white key receiver that unlocks a padlocked bar.

How to Solve Sand Blocks Level 389 — Full Solution

  1. At about 3:00 on the timer, move a small purple receiver into c1 r1 under the purple slot. It clears at about 2:59 and every counter drops by one (shutters 4 and 27, ice 35 and 15, pink blocks 7, trays 14 and 9).
  2. Keep feeding small purple and magenta pieces through c1. The counters read 3/26/34/14 at about 2:57, 2/25/33/13 at about 2:45 and 1/24/32/12 at about 2:37, with the trays at 11 and 6.
  3. At about 2:18 the white shutter breaks and white sand reaches the c5 notch; the left pipe switches to orange. Catch white with small white pieces under c5; one reaches 100% at about 2:15.
  4. By about 2:09 the pink blocks read 1. Stand a white upright in the c5 lane under the white feed; it fills at about 2:05 and clears by 2:04, and the pink blocks shatter. Around 2:02 drag the white upright out of the crate: the badge drops to 2 and a purple cell slides in.
  5. At about 2:00 the crate reads 1 with a green cell inside, the right tray reads 1 and the white feed is turning pink. A purple bar reaches 100% under the c1 slot at about 1:50, and tray 10 opens to show an orange bar locked with a padlock and a white receiver carrying a key.
  6. Lift the key receiver up to the c5 notch at about 1:44; it clears at about 1:43 and the padlock opens by 1:42, freeing the orange bar.
  7. Slide the orange bar under the c1 slot (now orange); it clears at about 1:37 and the left pipe turns green. At about 1:31 a green bar goes under c1, and the left tray opens at about 1:30. The ice over the c6-c7 cyan bar breaks at about 1:27.
  8. With the centre feed now pink, catch it at c5 with magenta pieces: a magenta cell at about 1:08, another at about 1:05, a magenta upright at c5 r1-r2 full at about 0:56 and a magenta bar across the top full at about 0:50. The crate opens at about 1:00, releasing its green cell.
  9. Brown follows pink in the centre feed: a small brown cell at c5 r1 fills at about 0:47. The cyan shutter reaches 0 at about 0:46, so bring the cyan upright to c7 r1-r2 (100% at about 0:45) and then the big cyan 2x2 (57% at about 0:42).
  10. Finish cyan with a cyan cell and the cyan bar at c6-c7 r1 (full at about 0:37). At about 0:34 the ice marked 36 breaks, revealing a brown cell; take it to c5 for the last brown (20% at about 0:32, full by 0:31). A green bar under c1 clears the last green at about 0:30.
  11. The right feed turns yellow. Catch the last cyan with a cyan bar at c6-c7 r1 (100% at about 0:27), then a yellow bar (100% at about 0:26) and a yellow upright (30% at about 0:25). It clears at about 0:24 and the board is empty.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Treating the 5 and 28 shutters as separate feeds that fill on their own. Like every other number here, they only drop when a receiver clears somewhere on the board.
  • Letting the c1 slot sit idle early on. Before the white shutter breaks, it is where the opening clears come from.
  • Moving the white key receiver anywhere but the c5 notch. It has to fill with white to open the padlock.
  • Using up the cyan pieces before the 28 shutter breaks; cyan only reaches the board after about 0:46.

Quick Tips for Sand Blocks Level 389 (quick clues)

  • Count on the shared counters: two quick small clears are worth more than one slow big one.
  • Drag the crate's queued receivers out when there is room; the badge only drops as each one leaves.
  • When tray 10 opens, send the white key receiver straight up to the c5 notch; the padlock opens as soon as it clears.
Board notes 5 details
Layout
Seven columns with four notches along the top: c1 is a purple sand slot fed by the left pipe, c3 holds a white upright receiver, c5 is the white feed behind a glass shutter marked 5, and c7 is the cyan feed behind a shutter marked 28. Row 1 carries a pink checkered block 8 at c3, a cyan cell under ice marked 36 at c4 and a cyan bar under ice marked 16 at c6-c7. Rows 2-5 are packed with small purple, magenta, cyan and white receivers, a white bar at c2-c3 r3, a yellow upright c4 r3-r4, a magenta upright c5 r3-r4, a big cyan 2x2 at c6-c7 r2-r3, a second pink block 8 at c1 r3 and a pink checkered bar 8 at c5-c6 r5. A crate marked 3 sits at c1 r4-r5, and two purple trays marked 15 (c1-c3) and 10 (c4-c7) close the bottom.
Goal
Clear receivers steadily so the shared counters run down: the white shutter opens after five clears, the pink blocks vanish at 0, tray 10 opens to reveal a padlocked bar and a white key receiver, and tray 15 opens later. The last catches are cyan and then yellow at the c7 feed after its 28 shutter finally breaks.
Opening
Drop a small purple receiver into the c1 slot area; the first clear at about 2:59 on the timer drops the shutters to 4 and 27, the ice to 35 and 15, the pink blocks to 7 and the trays to 14 and 9. Keep feeding purple pieces there: by about 2:57 the numbers read 3/26/34/14 and by about 2:37 they are 1/24/32/12.
Danger Zone
Only the c1 slot pays out at the start, so a jam around c1-c2 r1 stops every counter on the board. Later the c5 notch is the only white catch point; the white key receiver from under tray 10 has to reach it, so do not wall off the path from the lower right to c5 r1.
Mechanics
Global clear counters on two glass shutters, two ice caps, three pink blocks and two trays; a queue crate (white upright, purple cell, green cell); a colour-cycling left slot (purple, orange, green); a layered centre feed (white, pink, brown); a cyan-then-yellow right feed; and a white key receiver that opens a padlocked orange bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do the 5 and 28 at the top of Level 389 count?

Receiver clears. They are glass shutters over the white and cyan feeds, and they drop by one, along with the ice caps, pink blocks and trays, every time any receiver clears.

  • Where is the key?

Under tray 10. When that tray opens at about 1:50 on the timer, a white receiver with a key icon and a padlocked orange bar appear; fill the key receiver at the white feed to open the lock.

  • What is inside the crate marked 3?

A queue of three receivers: a white upright, then a purple cell, then a green cell. Each one you drag out lowers the badge.
